In December 2008, 200 volunteer stepped up to serve the community of Puchong in the Heavenly Gift Project. The 20 days project was carried out in IOI Mall with a variety of activities to contribute to orphanages, refugee’s centre, training centre for the disabled and a group of poor families within the community.

Free gift wrapping service was carried out in conjunction with Christmas celebration and a total of 1,500 gifts were wrapped by volunteers. ‘Pick A Gift’ is a platform which allowed the community to give back to the underprivileged. Within 20 days, 400 specific needs of the needy were met. ‘Be An Angel’ has recruited over 100 shoppers to avail themselves as volunteers to serve the less fortunate. To add to the merriment, carolers sang to joyful hymns while handing out balloons to children.

It was a fulfilling event to those who has stepped forward to contribute, as they have brought joy not only to those who are in need. Friendships were made and networks expanded over this meaningful event as people of all background come together for a good cause. Community at Heart is looking forward to another Christmas of joyful giving this year.
